College Profile
Thought-provoking academics and an engaging campus community are all characteristics of an Old Westbury education. Since its founding more than 40 years ago, Old Westbury has sought to provide students with the skills needed to succeed in their chosen field while also instilling in them an understanding of the changing global community in which they will live and work.
Through small classes and a tradition of interpersonal education, every student has the opportunity to learn from professors who lead both in research and practical experience. Many of Old Westbury’s full-time faculty have earned either Distinguished Professor or the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, among the highest honors within SUNY along with achieving such notable honors as Guggenheim Fellowships and Fulbright Scholars designations.
Located just 22 miles from the heart of New York City, Old Westbury lies on a secluded 604-acre campus where students can take advantage of the quiet country setting. Our students participate in more than 50 student organizations and many compete in one or more of our 12 Division III athletic teams. And, they learn as part of one of the most diverse student populations in the nation, experiencing opinions and insight both from around the corner and around the world.
