Is on-campus housing available for international students?
Yes, Welcome to your new home away from home! LIU offers affordable and comprehensive on-campus housing at both of our New York campuses, on our suburban Post campus and on our urban Brooklyn campus. LIU’s Brooklyn and Post campuses are consistently ranked amongst the safest in New York.

First Year, Transfer, and Graduate Students
First-Year and Transfer Requirements:
- Transcripts for all high school and post-high school institutions attended.
- All transcripts must be submitted in English or translated into English by a professional translation company.
- Many LIU majors do not require a course-by-course NACES evaluation. Visit our international admissions FAQ page for more information on which programs require an evaluation.
- Proof of English language proficiency testing(we accept IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, SAT, ACT, and Duolingo)
- Applicants may be eligible for an English language proficiency testing waiver based on citizenship and/or prior education where English is the first language.
- SAT or ACT (LIU is test-optional)
- Essay or Personal Statement
- Some programs have additional requirements.

Financial Aid
LIU awards over $100 million in scholarships annually – in fact, international undergraduate students are eligible for nine tiers of generous, merit-based scholarships. Additionally, international students are eligible for on-campus jobs and graduate assistantships
