Student Activities and Campus Life
The Office of Student Activities is committed to achieving a pluralistic community and to assisting the student body in developing rational, critical and creative capabilities. More specifically, the Office of Student Activities seeks to engage students in active learning, to assist them in establishing a meaningful value system and ethical standards, and to set high expectations for each student. By offering effective programs and participation in all College venues and by encouraging and supporting activities that include athletics, recreation, student clubs and organizations, performing arts, and student government, the Office of Student Activities provides opportunities for students to achieve a better understanding and appreciation not only for their culture, but also for the cultures of others. This fosters educational collaborations throughout the College and builds supportive and inclusive communities.
At Hunter College, you are more than a student attending classes, writing papers, and preparing for examinations. Your primary reason for being here may be academic, but it does not fully describe you. Participating in athletics and student organizations, reporting on campus issues, working in student government, or performing in theatrical productions also may interest and excite you. Such co-curricular activities are an integral part of your Hunter education, and many are funded, in part, by the Student Activity fee.
Hunter College has a wide variety of student clubs and organizations, covering diverse interests and providing opportunities for social engagement, skill development, and community advancement. These groups range from academic, career, recreational, artistic, Greek life, faith, advocacy, and culture-focused topics. Hunter College clubs and organizations are open to all active students without regard to race, gender, national origin, or any other protected class. Anyone can meet up with students who share your interests by joining an existing club or starting a new club.
