College Profile
BMCC is located in downtown Manhattan in a great neighborhood called TriBeCa. It is in the heart of New York City, and is walking distance from City Hall and Wall Street, the financial center of the world. Public transportation is convenient and the area is close to many world-class businesses and opportunities.
We offer over 30 areas of study, including Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Business Management, Accounting, Computer Science, Multimedia Programming and Design, Engineering Science, Video Arts and Technology, Early Childhood Education, Computer Information Systems, Nursing, and Geographic Information Science.
BMCC is part of the City University of New York (CUNY), New York City’s public university system. CUNY consists of 19 colleges – both community colleges like BMCC and four-year colleges. CUNY also has graduate and professional schools. BMCC students are CUNY students, which gives them access to CUNY-wide resources and programs, and helps make transferring from BMCC to another CUNY college easier.
We are a community college. In the United States, many students complete their first two years of college at a community college and earn an associate degree. Then, they transfer to a senior college to complete their bachelor’s degree. Community colleges are an affordable, inclusive, and smart way to begin your college experience.

International Student Housing Options
Most of our students live in Upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or Staten Island. Some live in New Jersey. Like the majority of people in this city, many of our students commute. In New York City, a normal commute is 30-60 minutes by subway.
One accommodation option is a residence hall. BMCC is a City University of New York (CUNY) school, so our students can stay in any CUNY residence hall. For more information, click here.
However, many students find their own accommodations, such as subletting a room in an apartment. For more information, please explore the following links:
First Year, Transfer, and Graduate Students
BMCC accepts Freshman Applicants and Transfer Applicants who, in their last semester at their previous institution of higher education, were in good academic standing, with a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
Financial Aid
International students are not eligible for financial aid.
