Event Overview
During the second week of December 2015, Doug Langhans, our board member from SUNY Cortland, represented Study New York at the annual International Consultants for Education and Fairs (ICEF) 2015 North American Workshop in Miami, Florida. This workshop has over 1,000 participants and is the largest event ICEF hosts outside of their home base in Germany.
The workshop brings together recruitment agents, colleges, universities, language institutes and high schools to meet face-to-face and discuss international education trends and recruitment opportunities. ICEF does an excellent job vetting the agents who participate to make sure they are reputable. Doug held 45 individual meetings with agents, and he had numerous meetings and conversations with other educational institutions and service providers throughout the three day event.
ICEF helps Study NY promote New York State as a destination for international students by providing our consortium with a free booth at their workshop. In addition, we receive a full-page color advertisement in the Educator and Service Provider Catalogue that is given to all agents attending the event. They understand the value of a consortium and do all they can to help us achieve our mission.
