College Profile

Located close to exciting New York City and adjacent to LaGuardia Airport, Vaughn is a small, accredited degree-granting college with a big commitment to student success. We recently added a $1-million, state-of-the-art flight simulator laboratory, invested another $300,000 in a new engineering laboratory and residence hall and are in the midst of a $20-million expansion of our academic and training facilities that will include a new library. The result: a state-of-the-art campus with sweeping views of Manhattan where you’ll find a culture of excellence and rigorous degree, professional, technical and certification programs.

Vaughn College is proud of its aeronautical heritage, but has expanded degree programs beyond the aviation sector for those interested in engineering, business management and technology. Vaughn is one of the few schools in New York state to award a bachelor’s of science in the progressive discipline of mechatronics engineering, and the College opened a new mechatronics lab in June 2010.

Classes are led by an engaged, experienced faculty and designed specifically to prepare students to succeed in today’s high-tech, in-demand fields. Many of our alumni are already there.
Vaughn was ranked among the best regional colleges in the 2009 and 2010 editions of US News & World Report’s college rankings, grouped alongside Cooper Union in Manhattan and the United States Coast Guard Academy.
The College’s proximity to LaGuardia Airport makes it an attractive choice for students in and outside metropolitan New York.

First Year, Transfer, and Graduate Students

In general, bachelor of science (BS) degree applicants should have an SAT of 1050 (combined critical reading and math) or higher and GPA of 80 or higher. Our associate in applied sciences programs have an open admissions policy. The student must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) must be submitted by all applicants from countries where English is not the official language of instruction. A minimum score of 550 on the paper exam is required for admission consideration; 213 on the computer-based format; or 80 on the Internet-based format. Students who fall below this range will be required to complete an intensive English-language program.
